Any experienced con artist will tell you that it is critical to make the personal connection with a mark to get the sale through. Therefore, if a telemarketing scam will involve something to gain your trust, it will be in the fraudster's best interests to have someone appear in person to get a person to sign off on something.
Therefore, if you are being asked over the phone to allow someone to appear in your house to get your personal informatio, be very careful.
